| Date of Birth | 3rd September 1028 |
| Date of Death | 9th September 1087 |
King William I, otherwise known as William the Conqueror was born in France on 1028. He became friendly with the current English King, Edward the Confessor. He invaded and attacked England on Edward's death, as he was promised the English crown, but then denied it by the Saxon Harold.
King Harold was defated by King William I (William the Conqueror) at the Battle of Hastings. King William I started the Domesday Survey, which was a huge record of England and it's people. The Domesday book was, as some people believed, the first national census. William ruled both England and France at the same time, which led to several skirmishes over the French land for the next 500 years. William died in 1087, and his land was given to both of his sons. Each son received a portion of this land, Robert inheriting Normandy, and William becoming the new King of Endland.
