King John I was the youngest brother of King Richard I and the youngest son of Henry II. John was appointed king of Ireland in 1177, when he was just 11 years old.

King John I was acting king from 1189 when his brother Richard was on the Third Crusade. John took the crown in 1199. John took heavy defeat from Philip II of France, including all of France most other English possessions, all by 1205. The very famous Magna Carta was King John I responsiblity. The Magna Carter first introduced the concept of human rights as we know them now.
