King George III reigned over Great Britain and Ireland from 1760. King George III was the firstHanoverian monarch to be born in England. Notably, King George III was the first monarch since Queen Anne to put Britain before Germany, or Hanover.

During King George III reign he fathered 15 children, but went on to suffer fits of madness, and after 1810 his son took over as regent. while King George III was king Britain lost it's Amaerican colonies, and emerged as a leading power in Europe. Britain discovered and colonised new lands, including Australia. Captain James Cook's first voyage also set sail, exploring the Pacific. The steam engine was also developed by the James Watt.
