King George II was king of Great Britain and Ireland from 1727. Like his father George preferred Germany to England. Unlike his father though, King George II made an effort to learn to speak English.
King George II gave Sir Robert Walpole, the Prime Minister at the time, number 10 Downing Street as a gift. Since then, the building has beomce the Prime Ministers permanent residence. Dick Turpin was hung under King George II rule.
