Son of Edward I King Edward II was made the first Prince of Wales in 1301. King Edward II was born in Wales and as a result was often called Edward of Caernarvon, due to his birthplace.
King Edward II invaded Scotland in 1314 to try and stop the revolt, but it all ended in defeat at Bannockburn. Scotland regained independence, which came to last 300 years. King Edward II was deposed in 1327 by his wife, daughter and her daughter's lover. It is said that he was murdered in Berkeley Castle, but his body was never found, so some historians claim that Edward II was secretely held captive so that others could rule the country.
