King Edward ovtained the thrown by inheritance from Henry III. King Edward I was also known as Longshanks because he was over 6ft tall, which was very tall at the time. Edward I fought against Robert the Bruce and was known as the hammer of the scots.
Edward I formed the model partliament in 1295. This brother the different types of noblemen together for the first time, including knights, burgesses, clergy, lords and commons. King Edward I was noted for building many castles, including Welsh Conway Castle, Caernarvon castle, Beaumaris and Harlech.
